Frequently asked questions
Is this QR code generator really free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no expiry. The codes are static, so they keep working as long as the link or text inside them does.
What is the difference between a static and a dynamic QR code?
A static code stores the data directly in the pattern, which is what this tool makes. A dynamic code points to a redirect service so the destination can be changed later, and usually needs a paid account.
What does error correction do?
It adds redundancy so the code can still be read when part of it is dirty or covered. Higher levels survive more damage but make the code denser.
Should I download PNG or SVG?
PNG suits websites, slides and documents. SVG is a vector file that stays sharp at any size, which is better for print.
Is the text I enter uploaded?
No. The code is generated in your browser. The page loads one small open-source QR library from a CDN, but your text is not sent anywhere.
